Service

The act of helping or doing work for someone, without the expectation of anything in return.

Monthly theme

Service

Each month our Fox Hollow community, including teachers, support staff, students and families, focus on one positive character trait.  This focus is intended to help each of us acquire certain traits that will help us become ethical and responsible human beings.

When in School, each theme has an accompanying lesson, activity, book, video, and challenge.  Some of these items will be found on this page and will be updated each month to focus on the new theme.  Come back often to find new ideas on how to teach positive character trait in the home.

As stated above, our Character trait for this month is Service.  Please take a moment to review the material below and share what is appropriate with your family.

What an amazing time to be focusing on service and helping those in need.  What could your family do this week to fill a need in your home, neighborhood or community?  Big or small, any act of service is magical.

Additional Activities that can be modified to your family dynamic:

Send a thank you to a service member.

Write cards or letters to those serving us right now in this time of isolation.  Health care workers, your teacher, the police force, the grocery store clerk, etc.  We are all in this together...let them know you appreciate what they are doing.

Create busy bags and activity packs for the local children’s hospital.

Busy bags are great for down time and traveling. They are also good activities for kids who are in the hospital. Put together some fun busy bags as a family and donate them to your local children’s hospital.  Many are facing preexisting or new illnesses.  Let them know they are not alone.

We hope you have found value in these resources and are here to help in anyway possible.  We are in this together.
